The training workshop for the protection of Iraqi Christian manuscripts, held in Baghdad on its seventh day, November 27, 2023, witnessed the visit of Dr. Ahmed Aleyawi, Director General of the Iraqi Manuscripts House.

 

Dr. Aleyawi was received by Mrs. Pascale Warda, head of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization and Mr. William Warda, Director of Public Relations at the organization and the Project Manager.

The Director General of the Iraqi Manuscripts House briefed with the participants the progress of work discussing number of issues that preserve the heritage of Iraq based on the importance of having care for books and manuscripts as a blog of Iraqi civilization characterized by its historical precedents and richness in various sciences. He also stressed the ambition of the Iraqi Manuscripts House to adopt a national digital project for all manuscripts indicating the importance of Iraqis having the ability to preserve this heritage and inquiring the two trainees, experts of the Iraqi Manuscript House Rana Abdul Hasib Rezik and Suhair Zeki Mohammad Hussein .

Dr. Aleyawi confirmed his readiness to support this kind of trainings expressing his thanks to Mr. Warda , the directoe of the workshop in response to his management in completing this project.

On her part, Mrs. Pascale Warda thanked Dr. Aleyawi for his cooperation with Hammurabi and his support for the workshop, while Mr. Warda praised the great interest and cooperation commending the role and efforts of the two experts of the Iraqi Manuscripts House trainees.

The Director General of Manuscripts also discussed issues that would expand the concept of manuscript preservation, expressing his satisfaction and appreciation for the regularity of the workshop’s activities.​

It is to be mentioned that the workshop is organized by Hammurabi Organization on the request of Pope John Paul II Foundation FGPII within the project of comprehensive of the right and with the support of the Italian Development Agency.
