Hammurabi Human Rights Organization (HHRO) Dohuk branch concluded the comprehensive training workshop on "Beekeeping and management of small scale apiary ".
The workshop was held in the district of Mankish in Dohuk Governorate with generous support of Christian Solidarity International (CSI) .
The workshop lasted for a whole month, from November 3rd to November 26th, 2025 including 12 intensive theoretical and practical lectures covering scientific and applied topics, including the fundamentals of beekeeping, management of small scale apiary, methods of caring and multiplying of cells and producing honey. The 13 trainees who participated in the course were from Mankish , Sarsank and Amadiya districtrict.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Father Nathir Al-Harbouli, pastor of Mar Georgis Chaldean Church, and Mr. Adeel Hanna, director of the Municipality of Mankish. In their speeches, they emphasized on the strategic importance of such courses in empowering economically the young men and women calling for expanding this experience by opening similar workshops to support the unemployed people helping to launch their own independent projects.
They also praised the significant efforts of the staff of Hammurabi Organization in Dohuk, and the trainer Shlemon Kalian noting that such projects represent a real step to improve the situation in the region, reducing migration, and consolidating the connection of our Chaldean, Syriac and Assyrian people to the land of their fathers and forefathers.
The ceremony also included a moving speech delivered by the program director, Engineer Ayad Yaqoub on the occasion of the 16 days campaign to combat violence against women, coinciding with the seventy-seventh anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In his speech, Mr. Ayad emphasized the importance of promoting the values of justice, human dignity, and women's rights as a fundamental pillar for building a healthy society.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the graduates, along with complete beehives equipped with all necessary supplies. This practical step aims to achieve economic sustainability and empower beneficiaries to become self-reliant.
During a group dinner, the trainees expressed their deep gratitude and joy for this initiative. They praised the role of the organization in improving their living conditions and opening new horizons for their professional futures emphasizing their strong hope for the establishment of more training workshops in various fields for unemployed young men and women in the district of Mankish and its surrounding villages.
