In a developing move of youth skills and improve livelihoods, Hammurabi Human Rights Organization launches a comprehensive beekeeping workshop in Dohuk

Hammurabi Human Rights Organization (HHRO) with the support of Christian Solidarity International (CSI), launched a comprehensive training workshop on beekeeping and small-scale apiary management at the the hall of Mar Georgis Church in the district of Mankish of Duhok Governorate.

 This workshop which began on November 3, 2025 is part of a program to develop youth skills and improve livelihoods, will continue for a month including three lectures per week presented by beekeeping specialists, covering the latest methods in apiary management, cell development, increasing production, and protecting bees from diseases.

More than 12 trainees from the Mankish district and neighboring areas such as Sarsang and the village of Bibad are participating in the workshop, reflecting the increasing interest among young people in such initiatives aimed at empowering them economically and expanding their opportunities to establish a small income-generating projects.

On November 5, 2025, Mrs. Pascale Warda, chairwoman of the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, visited the training site to review the workshop and interact with the participants. During her meeting with the trainees, she listened to their opinions on the importance of the course and suggestions for developing future projects that would contribute to improving their living conditions. They also stressed their need for sustained support for their small-scale initiatives in villages and rural areas

For her part, Mrs. Warda praised the enthusiasm of the participants and their serious follow-up, and promised to study their proposals and work on launching additional development projects in the region, including poultry hatchery projects, developing agriculture with a drip irrigation system, in addition to programs to empower women in areas such as hairdressing, sewing , candle and resin making.

Mrs. Warda also expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Hammurabi Organization office in Duhok, praising the work of theeam comprised of Engineer Ayad Yaqoub, the program director, Mr. Azzam Ayad, Mr. Warda Nisan, for their commitment and professional organizing and ensuring the success of the workshop.

At the conclusion of her visit, Mrs. Warda visited Mar Georgis Church in Mankish, where she was received by Father Nathir Al-Harbouli. The meeting addressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between religious and civil institutions to support youth initiatives and develop their capabilities, in a way that enhances opportunities for social and economic development in the region.
