On 10 March 2025, the new Administrative Board of the Social Academic Centre organized a special celebration on the occasion of International Women's Day.

 

Hammurabi Human Rights Organization/Erbil Branch participated with a delegation consisting of Mrs. Taghrid Adris, Responsible of the Erbil Branch of Hammurabi Organization, Nadia Butti, Member of the Board of Directors, Mazen Farouk, Deputy branch officer, and members of the General Board: Rita Al-Banna, Vivian Khader, Zina Tariq, and Ilham Ismail.

 

The center celebrated women's achievements and their pioneering role in society, witnessing the widespread participation of prominent social figures in Erbil, representatives of civil society organizations, and elite intellectuals and media professionals.

 

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Atheel Jameel Al-Maqdisi, head of Ankawa Local Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, as well as a large number of families and those interested in cultural and social affairs.

 

The event included film screenings and art exhibitions by a number of female artists, in addition to handicrafts, singing and musical performances, recitation of poems about women, in addition to the presentation of folk cuisine and a cultural lecture on the role of women in society.

 

 

 

Mr. Rafiq Hanna the psychologist Professor prepared and presented the event in interesting manner. This event affirms the continued commitment to women's issues and consolidate the values of equality and respect in the working environment and society.

 

The Head of the Centre, Jalal Habib addressed a welcoming speech on the occasion. A group of women's rights activists, including Mrs. Taghrid Adris, head of the Erbil branch of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, delivered valuable words to promote women's rights and importance in building society.

 

The ceremony marked an important milestone to the Social Academic Center, and at its conclusion the management of the Centre expressed thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed to the preparation of this special event and to attendees in spreading joy and celebrating the valuable role and contributions of women in community development. The events received a great interaction by the attendees.
