Within the framework of the joint program to promote human rights and protect minorities between Hammurabi Human Rights Organization and the Italian John Paul II Foundation, the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization held a scientific symposium entitled “Promoting the Culture of Minority Rights and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”
The symposium was held at the College of Media – University of Baghdad, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, under the generous patronage of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ammar Taher Mohammed and the participation of 101 both male and female students.
The symposium addressed two main axis
- The first: "The Media and its Role in Establishing Minority Rights," presented by Professor Dr. Hashim Hassan Al-Tamimi.
- The second: "The Rights of Persons with Disabilities," presented by Dr. Kamal Mohammed Siddiq.
The scientific session was moderated by Dr. Falah Hassan Al-Khattat.
The symposium was held by Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, organized and coordinated by Mr. William Warda Director of Public Relations at the Organization, Dr. Saif Adnan, and Mr. Mohammed Essam,
The symposium was characterized by a lively and interactive atmosphere, with speakers and attendees exchanging questions and comments.
The direct answers enrich the discussion and broadening the participants the understanding of human rights issues.
At the conclusion of the symposium and in appreciation of the active participation of the students certificates of appreciation were distributed by Dr. Mohammed Kathem Vice President of Hammurabi Organization and Mr. William Warda,
It is to be mentioned that this symposium is part of a series symposiums by the Hammurabi Organization at four Iraqi universities: the University of Baghdad, Al-Mustansiriya University, the Iraqi University and the University of Basra.
The aim of these symposiums is raising the awareness of human rights, focusing on the rights of minorities, persons with disabilities, women and children.
