Hammurabi Human Rights Organization welcomes the decision of Iraqi government to suspend the transfer of Civil Status Records of Arab families to the area of Nineveh plain.

In a statement to Nirgalgate news network the authorized spokesman of the Organization said that suspension of the operations to transfer records of Arab families is not sufficient although it represents a positive step in combating the processes of demographic change in application of the Constitution.

Suspension does not mean the total cancellation of such operations, as the government may return after a period, but the required decision to oblige all parties not to promote any transactions of this kind are visible and intended to change demographically affects the rights of Iraqi components in particular regionally since ancient times, note that Nineveh plain area is a special area characterized by its identity, the population of Christians with Assyrian historical extensions Syriac, the Chaldean and Yezidis and the presence of Shabaks, Kakayin, Armenians, Arabs ,Turkmans and others with a clear Arab culture.

The spokesman of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization added that what emphasizes that there is a violation of human rights in these governmental procedures. It has become a phenomenon at a sensitive stage in the history of Iraq and came after bloody terrorist acts committed by terrorist groups of ISIS, aiming to eliminate the identity of that region, so it is supposed and logic that the current trend is to heal the wounds and take care of the people of the region and not to put them in the face of new demographic problems.

The spokesman concluded saying that Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, referring to these facts, would like to re-affirm in accordance with its civil rights approach that it respects the choices and rights of all Iraqi citizens to live in any Iraqi region and within the framework of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,

It also affirms the rights of all Iraqi components, but that the transfer of records to a region in particular and a well-known population identity is increasing. This comes with non-human rights objectives to obliterate the demographic of the area practiced by the former regime by facilitating the distribution of the lands of Nineveh Plain to non-residents in the region, as happened and still in Telkef, Bartala and others, by the decision of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council No. 117,this decision is supposed to have been cancelled by the new cabinet decision, which abolished all decisions of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council, as the Ministry of Defense had been suspended the work in the areas of Nineveh Plain after the regime change, but unfortunately the government of Mr. Ibrahim al-Jaafari has been reinstated, as if there is a process of restorative in the decisions issued by the former regime and the benefit of powerful groups! Therefore, we demand that the Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abadi, consider the issue in this regard.
