As part of its efforts to enhance cultural and legal awareness among Iraqi students and consolidate the principles of respecting the basic of rights and freedoms, the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization held a scientific workshop entitled "Human Rights: Goal and Equality", on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Faculty of Education at the Iraqi University / Baghdad.
The workshop, which was attended by nearly one hundred students and faculty teachers, included two main themes. The first dealt with the right of children presented by Dr. Mohammad Turki Al-Obaidi, highlighting the concept of children's rights and its importance in building society, as well as shedding light on the most prominent relevant international legislation and conventions.
The second theme addressed women's rights and was presented by Mrs. Pascale Warda, Chairwoman of the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization focusing on laws and legislation that contribute to empowering women and defending their rights, emphasizing the vital role that university students can play in disseminating the culture of human rights within society.
At the end of the workshop, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Idris Al-Juhayshi, honored those in charge of organizing the workshop and participants, in appreciation of their efforts in making this outstanding scientific activity a success. During his speech, he emphasized the importance of continuing to hold such events that contribute to refining the student's character and developing awareness of societal and humanitarian issues, praising the positive interaction given by the students during the workshop.
Mrs. Pascale Warda Chairwoman of Hammurabi Organization, presented certificates of thanks and appreciation to the organizers of the workshop, in appreciation of their efforts in making this activity a success. She expressed her thanks and gratitude for the warm reception and cooperation from the Deanship of the College and its staff.
The symposium was organized, prepared and coordinated by Mr. William Warda Director of Public Relations at the Hammurabi Organization, Dr. Saif Adnan, and Mr. Mohammad Essam , besides the Media department responsible Mr. Mohammed Noor Ahmed along with Mr. Hagop Haik and Mr. Haitham Majed, members and cadres of the organization.
It is to be mentioned that this workshop is part of the project “Creating a Culture of Human Rights in Iraq”, which targets students and teachers of four Iraqi universities: the University of Baghdad, Al-Mustansiriya University, Iraqi University, and the University of Basra, carried out by Hammurabi Human Rights Organization in partnership with the John Paul II Foundation and with the support of the Italian Development Foundation.
