On Friday 21/3 and Saturday 22/3 and as part of its humanitarian efforts, the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization (HHRO) arranged for an initiative to distribute food baskets during the holy month of Ramadan.
The distribution process included 120 basket to various areas of Baghdad, including the village of Chechnya, Sadr al-Yousafiyah, Zafarani and Baghdad Al-Jadida for the benefit of the marginalized and needy people including returnees of poor families.
This initiative represents a comprehensive model of humanitarian action, solidarity, and community support, combining spiritual, social, and humanitarian dimensions in supporting needy families and alleviate their suffering during this holy month.
The holy month of Ramadan in Iraq is a season of giving and social solidarity, with numerous humanitarian initiatives aimed at assisting people in need. The initiative to distribute food baskets occupies an important place in this context as they represent a basic form of social and humanitarian support.
Based on the mercy and humanity recommended by God and called upon by all religions, such an initiative in the holy month of Ramadan is not just a charitable act, but rather a noble and great message to be learned in this month. It reminds a person of the grace of the Almighty God, to give up his pride and ego and thanking God for his grace, blessings and livelihood.
Moreover, this initiative is the bridge of love among members of society, it connects hearts and eliminates class disparities, and feels the person in need that he is not alone, but that someone feels and cares about him.
Mr. Hagop Haig ,member of the General Board of Hammurabi Organization an member of purchasing committee of Nergal News Network said that the food basket contained eleven items, consisting rice, lentils, flour, oil, tomato paste, pasta, tea, sugar, salt, eggs, and chicken, and is sufficient to meet the needs of a four members family one week. He expressed appreciation saying “We thank the donors for their trust in Hammurabi Organization to reach out to the needy and marginalized people delivering assistance with honesty and dedication.
