William Warda participate in a workshop to create a link between the Iraqi women's networks in Sulaymaniyah
  • Mr. Warda stresses the importance of building the capacity of women to build peace and stability
  • Mr. Warda: There is no stability and no peace in Iraq without the hand of women at the hands of men and vice versa in the process of construction and development

Mr. William Warda, Director of Public Relations of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization (HHRO) and former Head of the Alliance of Iraqi Minorities (AIM), participated in the workshop organized by the (Heartland Alliance) and (ASUDA) organizations in Sulaymaniyah on Saturday 5/8/2018.

The workshop devoted to discussing the reality of Iraqi networks interested in women, programs and projects and the possibility of establishing a common ground to work between networks to form a link of coordination between the networks of civil society organizations to develop the reality of women.

A group of networks made a presentation of their programs and projects and the prospects for the future. The participants then examined the opportunities and threats facing the work and the main topics of joint work and the priorities that should be focused on them as part of future programs and projects.

During the sessions of the workshop, Mr. Warda stressed that we are doing projects to promote human rights , peacebuilding and stability which cannot lead to a fruitful outcome without women's effective participation, and that it should extend her hand to support the man and vice versa for development, stability and peace-building.

He explained that a woman who does not reach out to shake hands with a man cannot be effective in making peace because shaking hands is a sign of solidarity and support. Men cannot achieve miracles alone. There is no stability or peace in Iraq without women. Their real role in active participation of decision-making and support of men in their struggle for development thus requires men of action to achieve the desired integration for the construction and development to achieve community peace.
