Mr. William Warda, Director of Public Relations of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization participated in the meeting called by the Ministry of Planning on Tuesday 10/7/2018 to develop a strategy for consolidating community peace and humanitarian security in the post-conflict areas of the liberated provinces from ISIS

The participants, included heads of various departments in the Iraqi state institutions, researchers, university professors and activists in active civil society organizations from the Iraqi provinces affected by the invasion of ISIS, stressed that the repercussions of the violence and instability in the provinces that suffered from the occupation of the terrorist groups of ISIS, reflect in one way or another on the dimensions of all human development and reduced its growth prospects.

 They also agreed that post-conflict societies require a rapid response to crises and more systematic integrated action in accordance with a realistic strategy to restore the active development roles of communities and help them strengthen their capacities to rebuild hope and confidence in the restoration of normal life, and to work diligently in accordance with the community peace approach based on reconciliation among the components of Iraqi society in order to create a peaceful and stable environment based on the principle of sustainable development.

In his speech to the meeting, Mr. William Warda, Director of Public Relations of Hammurabi Organization assured ,if the goal is to achieve security , peace and human security in our beloved country, achieve sustainable development and respond to the crisis that engulfs the country, we must work to strengthen security and good governance decentralized laws and mechanisms to impose them.

He also pointed out that we are aware that the country is going through economic and financial challenges and to overcome it in order to achieve economic integration, it is necessary to fight political, financial and administrative corruption and non-discrimination on the basis of components, regional or other, and the importance of achieving participation of all in the process of development and reconstruction.

The technical deputy of the Ministry of Planning has provided a speech on the importance of the pilot program in the community peace and peaceful coexistence to choose three districts of three liberated provinces namely Nineveh, Ramadi and Salahuddin, to be the nucleus of the most comprehensive experience in Iraq and therefore was selected districts of Hamdaniya in Nineveh , Hit in Ramadi and Balad in Salahuddin as samples to work for community peace.

Mr. Karam Karam the Regional Adviser for Emerging and Conflict Related Issues at United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia ESCWA, presented regional experiences on previous projects in the countries of ESCWA region on community peace and peaceful coexistence.
