Summary of Activities of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization From 1/2/2019 To 10/2/2019

 

  • Mrs. Pascale Warda Chairwoman of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, Former Minister of Migration and Displaced participated in the meeting of the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) to announce the formation of Women's Advisory Group on reconciliation and politics in Iraq. During the meeting number of views and perceptions were discussed on the mission activities of the advisory group in support of women's rights, addressing human rights violations affecting women in Iraq, and raising the status of Iraqi women to the role of political decision-making.

  • Mrs. Pascale Warda Chairwoman of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization and Mr. William Warda Public Relations Officer of the organization meet the invitation of the Iraqi Businesswomen's Association to empower women to attend the opening of the second conference held in Baghdad on Saturday 2/2/2019 entitled "Woman Go to Sovereign Positions". The agenda included number of activities, including the honoring of 50 developed creative personalities in Iraq and the Middle East. The conference was held with the cooperation and support of the Peace and Prosperity International.

  • Dr. Mared Abdul Hassan Al-Hassoun member of the General Board of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, Advisor to the House of Representatives for Tribal Affairs, received the shield of creativity during his participation in the opening of Al-Khairat Police Station in Al-Karma district-Anbar province on 6/2/2019. On the occasion a ceremony was held attended by the head of the provincial council, the governor of Anbar, the police chief, the operations commander, a representative of the Baghdad operations commander, the operations commander north of Baghdad, the director of Al-Khairat district, and number of officials and civil activists.

  • Mr. William Warda, Public Relations Officer of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, called for arbitration of the mind in dealing with the subject of the Strategic Security Agreement between Iraq and the United States of America (SOFA) and not being dragged behind political bidding and emotions to evaluate this agreement.

The Intervention of Mr. William Warda was part of the discussions that took place during a lecture by Major General Khalid Al Bayati, member of the General Board of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization at the seminar held by Al-Furateyn Center for Strategic Research on Saturday 9/2/2019.

  • Mrs. Pascale Warda Chairwoman of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, Former Minister of Migration and Displaced described the obstacles faced by the creative graduate (Mina Ragheed) for appointment to the University of Mosul as a negative discrimination against the disabled. She said in a statement to Nergal News Network that the decision taken by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Professor Qusay Al-Suhail is worthy of appreciation and gratitude because he insisted on appointing the blind and scientifically brilliant graduate despite the fact that a committee in the Ministry of Health rejected her appointment under the pretext that she is blind. The fact is that the graduate (Mina Ragheed) obtained the Degree of Excellent from the Faculty of Arts Department of Arabic Language for the academic year 2017-2018 and even the Degree of Excellent from the University of Mosul and got the First series of the University graduates and when she submitted for the purpose of appointment and examined by the Employment Committee in the Ministry of Health, her request was rejected because she is blind.

  • Engineer Louay Kamal Oraha, member of the General Board of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, participated in a workshop called by the CAPNI Organization held in Duhok on 8/2/2019 on the basics of human rights and on the framework of promoting rights of minorities.

  • A relief team from Hammurabi Human Rights Organization headed to the camp (Kertu 3) in Duhok province and distributed relief services to (156) male and female children of Yazidis, some of them are orphans who lost their fathers and mothers during the terrorist attack of ISIS on the villages and towns of Yazidis. The relief campaign included distributing winter rain jackets. The distribution took place at (Kania Sabi) School on Friday February 8, 2019. The relief team included Mr. Akad Yohanna Ishac, member of the Board of Directors of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, Mr. Yohanna Ishac member of the General Board of the organization and Mr.Nashaat Semorto member of the General Board of the organization. The management of (Kania Sabi) School sent a letter of thanks and appreciation to Hammurabi organization for this relief initiative, describing it as outstanding. The relief came with the support of CSI as a response to the need of Yazidi orphan children in Ain Safni orphanage, as well as in the camp (Kertu 3) of the young students, who were previously visited by a joint delegation from Hammurabi organization and Christian Solidarity International CSI.
